I"m gonna sadly say that this game must have not of sold well. Yes this is how I'm gonna start my review. Its sad cause I had fun with this game. I mean it doesn't have options and replay value like SVR but you and a friend could have fun with it.
Gameplay 4/5
The gameplay works fairly well. It shines in allowing you to use the left and right triggers to apply strong and weak grapples. After applying the grapples you use one 3 face buttons to initiate a move. The system also uses a fire pro like gameplay making the player initiate lower moves before applying stronger moves via a popularity system. To block is one button , just like most games today but its RB or R1 depending on your console.
The matches flow fluidly except on a few occasions. Sometimes you can initiate where you want your irish whip to go. Sometimes they run slowly after you irish whip them but this happens rarely. There aren't any springboards despite the fact many haters think it plays like TNA Impact. By the way it doesn't at all.
Online 4/5
Online the game works very good. There is no lag hardly what so ever. The pin mechanics and submission mechanics works well against cheaters who have modded and turbo controllers. This is where the game shine the most. Also theres a Hair vs Mask match where you put your mask on the line. If you lose you have to regain your honor by winning 3 matches with that unmasked lucha to gain your mask back. When you do regain it back you will be prompted by a message. The sad thing is despite all this greatness its sad that people didn't give it a try cause it is different from SVR.
Replay Value 3/5
Sadly the Replay suffers a little. Mainly cause of what I stated earlier concerning online. The Achievements/Trophies are easy but they are some that will take some time. King Of The Ring Mode allows up to 8 players or 1 against the CPU to have a series of matches for the championship. Yes , you will see the lucha celebrate with it if you complete it. There are no exhibition titles so this helps alot. The story you will probably play it a total or 2 times as a rudos and a technico. Serious players will play it up to 4 times concerning the achievement to complete the compaign as rudos and technico on hard. There will be DLC but that would mainly be for the diehard AAA fans.
Bottomline 3.7/5
I wanted to give this 4/5 but there are some issues that make barely above average wrestling game. Can you have fun with it? Yes! For very long? That depends on the player plus how much of a AAA fan he is. Also once again if more would go out and get this title to make online better the replay would be great. The fact is though you will spend minutes waiting around between matches and that is just sad being that it delivers the most with online gameplay.
