First and foremost, I want to recognize the fact that the traffic going here to WWE.THQ.COM has doubled since last year. Some of the THQ insiders say it's due to the new look of the site.
I beg to differ.
In case you didn't know, The Miz is a ratings spike. My Mizfits are loyal followers. But I will give credit where credit is due — the site looks great, and having a page entirely dedicated to The Miz is quite impressive. However, brown nosing me doesn't get viewers. The Miz gets viewers, so I will take full credit for the increase.
You're welcome, THQ.
You're also welcome for the success of the SmackDown vs. Raw 2011’s recent roster reveal party. For those of you that weren't there live in San Francisco, or didn't catch it on Gamespot.com, here’s a brief synopsis. You missed Howard Finkel, Justin Roberts, Cory Ledesma (THQ's resident nerd) and Eve talking about how exciting it is to have JTG in the game.
I took a different approach, and ripped into virtually every single WWE Superstar on the game’s roster.
At one moment, I thought I was going to throw Cory (think Screech from Saved by the Bell with a blond flat top) through a table. Cory, who is home on Saturday nights drinking lukewarm soda watching Star Wars for the 400th weekend in a row by himself, likes to think he knows everything about the game. Granted, that is his job, but when you try to upstage The Miz, you get owned.
Now that I got that off my chest, onto Round 3 of The Miz vs. THQ, and I'm writing this from a B-747 on a 8-hour flight to France. I have a guy who speaks zero English sitting next to me. Luckily, I have my iPad, which has 10 hours of battery life, so I can watch my one movie, Bloodsport, 5 times. (Frank Dukes is the man).
Traveling all the time takes its toll, but that’s the life of a WWE Superstar. It's non-stop. From performing on TV shows such as Raw and SmackDown, to entertaining at WWE Live Events, media appearances, charities, autograph signings, commercial shoots, radio interviews — the list goes on.
Days off are few and far between, at least for a Superstar like myself. But that's the way I like it. The more I work, the more people know who I am and of my talents. And the more successful I will become.
For me, the new year doesn't start on January 1st like most people. No, my new year starts the day after WrestleMania. It's the start of the Road to WrestleMania, and from Day One, my goal is to be in the main event on the grandest stage of them all and steal the show. I've been on the active roster for four years, and that has yet to happen. But each year, I have paved a better road for myself.
Last year was my first appearance at WrestleMania, and, of course, I was victorious, meaning I'm 1-0. Ladies and gentlemen, the new streak has begun and it will continue in Atlanta’s Georgia Dome on Sunday, April 3, 2011. To say big things will happen is an understatement for what I have in mind. You will just have to wait and see what happens. Until then, enjoy the road I create.
While I'm creating my road, you can create your own road with WWE SmackDown vs. Raw 2011's impressive Road to WrestleMania story mode, with all new features and stories. This year’s mode offers players more
freedom and an even greater level of interactivity and choice to control your
destiny on the way to the pinnacle of sports-entertainment.
Instead of being a linear storyline experience, this year, you can actually see your character roaming around the locker room area at a WWE event. You'll never know who you'll run into and interact with, what brawls may break out spontaneously, what swerves may occur, and what path you will choose on your way to headlining WrestleMania.
WWE SmackDown vs. Raw 2011 intuitively reacts to what you are doing. No more beating people up for the fun of it and having no repercussions. It doesn't happen in real life, and it's not happening here.
For example, say you’re me (congratulations, by the way) and I'm hanging out eating healthy foods in catering, because cakes are for fatties, and John Morrison comes walking up. Now. I can either have a conversation with him (trust me, no fun) or we can brawl and the food from the catering table becomes part of the action (much more fun).
The result of that brawl will affect your Road to WrestleMania. If you come out with the upper hand, maybe that will catapult you to the top. If you lose, God forbid, I will come to your house and throw you over a table. Or even worse, your story might set you back to an opening match against Shad in either ring gear option 1 or 2. That’s if you choose to buy the second option via download (and you know you will the first day it’s available).
Good luck on your Road to WrestleMania. As for my road, I don't need luck. I once read that luck is when preparation and opportunity meet. I couldn't agree more, and I am more prepared then I have ever been.
For I am The Miz, and I AM AWESOME!
